Impromptu, overnight trip to the mountains.

We didn't have any plans for Memorial Day Weekend and I was kinda bummed we were going to the mountains like we had last year.   When I got home from work on Friday he suggested we take an impromptu, overnight trip on Sunday.  I was all in.  And then on Saturday when my new Canon camera that he had ordered for me (that was a total surprise) came, it was even more perfect since I would be able to test it out in some of my favorite places.

View from atop Mt. Mitchell.

We stopped at the Orchard at AltaPass on the way up the Blue Ridge Parkway to Blowing Rock.

We had ice cream from Kilwin's for dinner, being the responsible parents that we are.

Swinging till dark at the park in Blowing Rock.

Testing out the bread before giving it to the geese, ducks and swans at Bass Lake.

Checking out the cows on Mose H. Cone Memorial Park..

Splashing in a cold creek.

Elk River Falls.  I would guarantee that the mother(s) of these boys were not here.

Rarely does Tristan ask me to take his picture.  He sat on this rock and requested a picture.  Happy to oblige you young man.

Feeding the fowl again.  This time in Banner Elk.

My new camera works great, we had a blast and Tristan didn't get car sick.  But he does still hate my Outlook.  Oh well, can't have it all.
