Cutest little garden gnome

Farmers Market Fun 4/30/11

It's Saturday and you know what that means for me.  Farmers Market Time!  Today I brought along my camera to capture a few more pics for you.

Fresh, local berries are so GOOD.

The Avery's stand.

Grannie's Goodies

My haul for the day.

I'm gonna be really sad when these are out of season.

Today there was a sampling of kale chips at the market and they were REALLY good.  The recipe above is really simple.  I'll be giving it a try this week at home.

Liquid Sunshine

This post was inspired by a post I saw on another blog that I follow.  You can find it here: Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head.  Thanks, Casey, for the inspiration.  Luckily there were still enough rain drops left after reading her that I was able to grab a few shots before the sun dried everything up.

Sweet Potato 'Cakes

Tristan is out of school today for Good Friday.  I still have to work but I don't go in until late so this rainy morning was perfect for pancakes with my little guy.

3/4 cup of pancake mix
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1 small sweet potato (cooked and cooled)

Uh, oh Mommy.  You lost your nutmeg.

Mmmm Mmmm!!  Yummy in my tummy!

With butter and sweet potato butter.

Tomato sauce anyone?

Ok... so maybe it's not ready yet.  These things take time.  One must have patience.  (I know... I shouldn't be telling anyone they should have patience when I have very little myself.)  But, tt won't be too long and I will be able to make a batch or two.

Roma Tomato

Until then, I do still have a couple batches in the freezer from last year to enjoy.

Blowing Rock, NC

One of my favorite places on earth is Blowing Rock, NC (and the entire High Country area in NC).  I am so excited about the warmer weather and the plans of getting back up to that area more often with my family.  If you have never been you are really missing out.  Make some time and go.  I'm sure you will fall in love like I have.

Before you go, check out Blue Ridge NC Guide.  Casey lives and works in the area and loves it.  She gives great tips on places to hike, eat, places to take great pictures.

Lincoln County Farmers Market Opening Day 2011

Today was opening day for the Farmers Market in Lincoln county.  If you know me, then you know how I love our farmers market.  There is nothing like buying local and talking to farmers themselves.  Despite all the bad weather that was called for today the market was open.  Other than the wind and a shower here and there, I don't think it was as bad as the weather people were calling for.  At least not in our area.  Luckily our market in Downtown Lincolnton has a small shelter.  I didn't make it to Denver today so see my friends there so I'm not sure how they faired in this weather.  Check out what I scored this week.

Fresh eggs from Walnut Hill Farm.

I love the "Laid in the USA" sticker.

Sugar Bar from Grannie's Goodies

I can't wait to get a little deeper in the season so I can get more great stuff.  I slept in a little this week so I missed out on the strawberries that Llyod Lewis had.  Next week I am going to be earlier!
